Webcasting Case Study : Telus
Telus Advanced Communications Expert Series Training
The Telus Advanced Communications division came to OBC seeking a larger audience for a training session on Virtual Private Networks. What better way, they decided, to demonstrate the potential of the internet-based VPN concept than to webcast the training?
Specifically, Telus's objectives for the session were to:
- Increase the estimated live audience of 200 to an additional 2000
- Ensure the entire audience - not just the live group - participated fully and took away specific knowledge about VPN
- Find a single provider, able to fulfill all project services
OBC designed a turnkey solution for Telus involving:
- Full video and audio webcast
- Simultaneously synchronized PowerPoint slides
- Presentation in a player window customized to Telus's branding
- A live moderator-managed Question-and-Answer session enabling the virtual audience to interact with the presenter
To deliver the solution, OBC provided the following elements:
- Full live production services including video and audio recording and project equipment
- Computers to deliver PowerPoint messaging
- Integration of on-site technology with OBC's webcast encoders
- Streaming to Telus's Internet broadcast network (Tibnet).
- Test players in advance of the event
- Live toll-free help desk to assist virtual participants before, during and after the webcast
The outcome?
Telus's live audience of 230 was augmented by over 2000 fully involved participants, and the achievement of its communication goals for VPN.
